Removing A Blower Motor

Step 1

The negative battery terminal’s ground line should be disconnected. Use a wrench to loosen the retaining bolt. The terminal’s clamp should be removed.

Step 2

Procedure: 

  1. Cut off the blower motor’s electrical power source.
  2. Your furnace’s blower motor is covered by a panel that must be removed.
  3. Find the bolts or screws holding the motor housing to the frame and remove them.
  4. Take images of the wiring connecting the motor to the furnace with your phone. You may reconnect everything using the instructions in the drawings.
  5. Cut the motor cables off at the main unit.

  7. The screw next to the motor shaft should be loosened.
  8. Screws and capacitor leads should be undone on the motor’s backside.

  12. Move the motor out of the housing with caution.
  13. To remove the belly band, remove the screws on the motor.
  14. Place the replacement motor so that it rotates in the same direction as the fan’s airflow.
  15. Place the motor in the center of the fan wheel, then attach the bolts and capacitor leads on the back.
  16. Reconnect the motor set screw on the opposite side.
  17. Reinstall the engine and its housing in the furnace, then bolt them in place.
  18. After that, reconnect the wires. 
  19. Restore the unit’s power, then test the replacement motor.
